One Morning in Merritt!

It was 12th October, 2009 morning at about 10:00am that this picture was taken. It was a photographic trip with the Canadian Martyrs' Church (in Richmond) to Merritt, where we were supposed to do some "Autumn Color" photo-shooting. It ended up we were little too early for the Autumn color while we got a lot of other stuff, e.g. this icy crystal on the surface of a lake. All through the trip, it was very nice to interact with other members who shared the common interests, especially when this is the first time that Michael, Bennett and myself left our families behind for the weekend and being "alone" in the Men's Club doing what we enjoyed.

The icy crystals are of very small size, like a quarter. They formed on the surface of the water while you may observe that some other crystals formed underneath the water surface like white spots. Then, along the edge of the water and the rock, they formed another line of crystals. At a closer distance, you will see they are actually all crystals. At that moment, I was amazed by the nature. I tried to visualize the crystallization process, i.e. how the water was turned into the crystal stars on the surface. It must have been spectacular simply to watch!

Life is about appreciation of details. To observe and enjoy the tiny little things in life. Very often, we were rushing and missed a fair amount of details (of life), or we were simply distracted and did not pay enough attention.

It would be nice if you can start today, to pause for a few minutes (or even a few seconds) to simply appreciate what Mother Nature is offering you ... right now! To appreciate what LIfe is offering you ... right now! ... What are you going to do ... now?

  1. Dear Matthew,

Friends are always close at hearts even distance apart. Angels are around us.

Let's feel and enjoy what life is! Every moment and every minute ever and forever. God give us senses. Smell, see, touch, taste, say/sing and listen with our hearts that we will feel the difference.

"Eternal life" really exists when we think we are living in heaven even everywhere you like and image. That's simple. Love is love. Boundless......

Although life has no guarantee but we can change our attitude and we can make life meaningful no matter how long and how short it may be. How "long" is "long"? No one knows and God knows. We do the best and let God do the rest. Agree?! ...... If we don't enjoy life, one day is also "long".

Our lives at least mean so much and so worthwhile for someone treasure, value and indeed deeply love us. Vice versa. How's beautiful our mind God given? Happiness is at the eyes of beholders. Enjoy everytime, everywhere and any how?

Thanks very much for your sharing - How great the nature God create? It's wonderful and amusing that the nature exists no matter we notice or not.

Don't count how much we don't have but count our blessing and what we have. Love we chose and choose we love.

God bless you! and Esther and your family.

    With warmest blessing,
    Ah King

  2. Hi Matthew,
Yes, appreciation of the detail in life is often "under-appreciated". You can look at the same thing at different time, and it is beautiful in different ways. We are truly blessed with the ability to appreciate...

    Take care and God bless!

  3. Very interesting photo Matt.
Appreciation of mother nature is free, all it takes is a moment of time, and the reward is priceless.

This evening I took mum to look at the sunset at West Dyke Trail, West of Richmond. The setting was so beautiful with hundred of birds rushing back to their nests flying over the red and grey sky; ducks enjoying their last hunting in the swamp. Mum was so excited by two ducks waddled and quacked pass us! It is truly priceless!

  4. I'm never a "Mountain Person" 'cos I always love the sea... Until that year (back in 1997 and/or 98 before Christmas) when I did the First Run with Jonathan up in the Whistler Mountain around 08:00 in the morning... When we both sat down and taking a break and looked back the trails that we craved on the fresh snow, it was priceless... It gives you a chill immediately when I saw it and couldn't beleive that being interacted with the Nature can be sooo Powerful... I still remembered that morning both of us had to get up sooo early so that we can be the First One to snowbroad down before everybody came along... Without getting up early with efforts, I wouldn't have that "Perfect Picture" for the rest of my life!!! @..@
